" Meu filho, ouve as advertências de teu pai e não despreses os ensinamentos de tua mãe.” (provérbios 1:8)Adquire o hábito de falar sempre com calma a todos. Isso vai-te impedir de ter raiva, uma falha grave que leva as pessoas ao pecado. Assim como os nossos Professores disseram: “Quem explode de raiva está sujeito à disciplina do Gehinom” (Nedarim 22a) como eles disseram: “Lança a raiva para fora do teu coração, e remove o mal da tua carne.” (Eclesiastes 12:10) aqui Mal significa Gehinom, como lemos: “e o homem mau está destinado ao castigo.” (Provérbios 16:4) Depois de te salvares da raiva, a qualidade da humildade entrará no teu coração.Este atributo radiante é o melhor de todos os admiráveis atributos (ver Avoda Zara 20b) , “A seguir á humildade vem o temor (reverência) a Deus.”(Provérbios 22:4) , e através do pensamento da humildade, o atributo de reverência entrará no teu coração. Ele fará com que penses sempre de onde viestes e para onde vais, e que enquanto estas vivo tu és apenas como uma larva e um verme, e o mesmo depois da morte. Ele também irá lembrár-te diante de quem vais ser julgado, o Criador ( ver Avot 3:1) , assim como está escrito “Mesmo o céu e os céus dos céu não podem conter-te, muito menos o coração das pessoas! " (Reis I 8:27 ; Provérbios 15:11) , Está também escrito: “ Porventura não encho o céu e a terra? diz o Senhor” (Jeremias 23:24)Quando tu pensas sobre todas estas coisas, tu irás temer O Teu criador, e tu vais proteger-te de pecar e portanto, com esses atributos tu vais ser feliz com a tua parte. Além disso, quando tu ages com humildade e modéstia diante de todos, e tens temor a Deus e medo do pecado, então o espírito da Shechiná (Santidade) e seu esplendor glorioso vai descansar em cima de ti, e tu vais viver a vida do Mundo Vindouro!E agora, meu filho, entende e vê que todo aquele que o seu coração é orgulhoso e sente que é maior do que os outros está a rebelar -se contra o Reino dos céus, porque ele está a adornar-se com as vestes do Reino do céu, como está escrito: “O Senhor é Rei, vestido de majestade.” (Salmos 93:1)Porquê o seu coração se sente orgulhoso? É por causa da riqueza? “O Senhor torna pobre e torna rico.” ( 1 Samuel 2:7)É por causa da honra? Ela pertence a Deus, como lemos: ". Riqueza e honra vêm de Você"E aquele que se orgulha da sua sabedoria certamente sabe que Deus "faz perder a palavra aos presumidos e tira a sensatez aos velhos." (Job 12:20)Assim, vemos que todos são iguais diante de Deus, já que com sua ira Ele rebaixa os orgulhosos e quando quer Ele levanta os que estão em baixo. Então baixa-te e Deus vai te levantar! Portanto, agora vou explicar-te como te comportares com humildade e seguires sempre esse atributo. Fala sempre suavemente, com a tua cabeça inclinada, os olhos olhando para o chão e o coração para cima (em direcção a Deus). Não olhes para o rosto de uma pessoa enquanto tu falas com ela.Considera todos como maiores que tu. Se ele é sábio ou rico, tu deves respeitá-lo. Se ele é pobre e tu és mais rico ou mais sábio então, considera-te (no teu coração) mais culpado do que ele, e que ele é mais inocente do que tu, quando ele pecar e errar, enquanto o teu pecado é deliberado! Em todas as tuas palavras, todas as tuas acções, todos os teus pensamentos e em qualquer momento, considera-te que estás diante de Deus, abençoado seja Ele, e Sua Shechiná está acima de ti, pois a Sua glória enche todo o mundo. Fala com temor e admiração, como um escravo diante de seu mestre. Age com moderação na frente de qualquer um.Quando alguém vos chama, não respondas em voz alta, mas com gentileza, como quem está diante de seu mestre. A Torah deve sempre ser aprendida de forma diligente, para que tu possas cumprir os seus mandamentos.Quando saíres do que estudaste reflecte cuidadosamente sobre o que tu tens estudado, a fim de ver o que podes colocar em prática.Examina as tuas acções a cada manhã e noite, e desta forma cada um de teus dias serão gastos em Teshuvá (arrependimento).Durante as tuas orações, remove todas as preocupações mundanas de teu coração. Prepara o teu coração diante do Senhor, purifica teus pensamentos e pensa no que tu vais dizer, fazer ou que achas que vai ser bom, e tua oração será pura, clara, limpa e agradável, devota e aceitavél diante O Senhor abençoado Seja Ele, como está escrito: "Senhor , Tu ouves o desejo dos, pobres, fortalece-lhes o coração e dás-lhes ouvidos." (Salmos 10:17)Lê esta carta, pelo menos uma vez por semana e não negligêncies nada. Cumpre a carta , e ao fazê-lo, anda com ela para sempre nos caminhos do Senhor, Abençoado seja Ele, de modo que tu terás sucesso em todos os teus caminhos, e mercerás o Mundo Vindouro que fica escondido para os justos.Cada dia que leres esta carta, o céu responderá eternamente aos desejos do teu coração.Amen, Sela.

The following letter was written by the Ramban to his son, teaching him humility and modesty.
The Ramban instructed is son to read this letter at least once a week and promised him that every day he reads this letter all his prayers will be answered.
He also said that all who say it will be protected from harm or suffering and are they promised their share in the World to Come.

" Hear my son, the instruction of your father and don't forsake the teaching of your mother." ( proverbs 1:8)
Get into the habit of always speaking calmly to everyone. This will prevent you from anger, a serious attribute flaw wich causes people to sin. As our Teachers said: “ Whoever flares up in anger is subject to the discipline of Gehinom” (Nedarim 22a) as it said: “ Cast out anger from your heart, and remove evil from your flesh. “(Ecclesiastes 12:10) here Evil means Gehinom, as we read: “and the wicked are destined for the day of evil.” (Proverbs 16:4) Once you have saved yourself from anger, the quality of humility will enter your heart. This radiant attribute is the finest of all admirable attributes (see Avoda Zara 20b) , “ Following humility comes the fear (awe) of the Lord. “(Proverbs 22:4) , and throught humility, the attribute of awe will enter your heart. It will cause you to always think about where you came from and where you are going, and that while alive you are only like a maggot and worm, and the same afther death. It will also remind you before Whom you be judged, the King of Glory ( see Avot 3:1) , as it is written, “ Even the heaven and the heavens of heaven can´t contain you, How less the hearts of people!” (I Kings 8:27 ; Proverbs 15:11) It is also written: “Do I not fill heaven and earth? says the Lord.” (Jeremiah 23:24)
When you think about all these things, you will come to fear Your creator, and you will protect yourself from sinning and therefore with these attributes you will be happy with your share. Also, when you act humbly and modestly before everyone, and are afraid of God and of sin, then the spirit of the Shechinah and its glorious radiance will rest upon you, and you will live the life of the World-to-Come!
And now, my son, understand and see that whoever his heart proud and feels that he is greater than others is rebelling against the Kingdom of heaven, because he is adorning himself with the garments of the kingdom of heaven, as it is written: “The Lord reigns, He wears clothes of pride.” ( Psalm 93:1)
Why should one´s heart feel proud? Is it because of wealth? “The Lord makes one poor or rich.” (I Samuel 2:7)
It is because of honor? It belongs to God, as we read: “Wealth and honor come from You.”
And one who is proud of is wisdom surely knows that God “ takes away the speech of assured men and reasoning from the sages.” (Job 12:20)
So we see that everyone is the same before God, since with His anger He lowers the proud and when he wishes He raises the low. So lower you and God will lift you up! Therefore, I will now explain to you how to behave humbly and always follow this attribute.
Speak gently at all times, with your head bowed, your eyes looking down to the ground and your heart up (towards God).
Don´t look at a person´s face while you speak to them.
Consider everyone as greater than yourself.
If he is wise or rich, you should give him respect. If he is poor and you are richer or wiser then he, consider yourself ( in your heart) to be more guilty than he, and that he is more innocent than you, since when he sins it is err, while your sin is deliberate!
In all your words, all your actions,all your thoughts and in any time regard yourself as standing before The Holy One Blessed Be He, and His Shechinah is above you, for His glory fills the whole world. Speak with fear and awe, as a slave standing before his master.
Act with restraint in front of everyone.
When someone calls you, don´t answer loudly, but gently, as one who stands before his master.
Torah should always be learned diligently, so you be able to fulfill its commands.
When you arise from your learning reflect carefully on what you have studied, in order to see what in it you can put into practice.
Examine your actions every morning and evening, and in this way every one of your days will be spent in Teshuvah ( repentance).
During your prayers, remove all worldly concerns from your heart. Prepare your heart before the Lord, purify your thoughts and think about what you are going to say, do or think will be proper, and your prayer will be pure, clear, clean, devout and acceptable before the Lord blessed Be He, as it is written: “ When their heart is directed to You, listen to Them.” ( Psalms 10:17)
Read this letter at least once a week and neglect none of it.
Fulfill it, and in so doing, walk with it forever in the ways of the Lord, may He Be Blessed, so that you will succeed in all your ways, and merit the World to Come wich lies hidden away for the righteous.
Every day that shall read this letter, heaven shall answer your heart´s desires eternally.Amen, Sela.
